SUMMARY, CONCLUSION, IMPLICATIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
    This chapter presents summary, conclusion, implication of the study in the field of nursing. It also presents recommendations for future reaserch on importance / maintenance of menstrual hygiene.

Summary of the study
    The study was undertaken to determine the effect of structure teaching programme on importance / maintenance menstrual hygiene among puberty girls belong to eighth standard Govt. School, Hayathnagar, Hyderabad .
    The following objects were set for the study;
    1) To assess the knowledge of adolescents or puberty girls regarding importance /maintenance of menstrual hygiene.
    2) To evaluate the effectiveness of structured teaching programme.

The hypothesis of  the study
    H1 the mean post test knowledge score  of puberty girls who received structured teaching programme regarding importance / mainteinance of menstrual hygiene will be significantly higher than the mean pre test knowledge score.
    H2 there will be no significant difference between the mean pre test knowledge score and mean post test knowledge score of puberty girls regarding importance / maintenance of menstrual hygiene.
    Pre experimental (1 Group pre test  post test) design was used in the study. The conceptual frame work of the study was based upon Roy’s Adaptation Model. The instrument used for data collection was structured questionnaire on importance / maintenance of menstrual hygiene which was included in pre test and post test.
    The study was conducted at Govt. School, Hayathnagar, Hyderabad Non-probable convenient sampling was used to select the study participant ( 60 Puberty Girls) The Descriptive Statistics (frequency, percentage, mean) and inferential statistics ( paired t - test) were used to analyze the data and to test the hypotheses.
Major findings of the Study:
1) The demographic characteristics of puberty girls
    With regard to the age, most of the puberty girls belongs to 11 to 12 years 16 out of 16 (26%) , 41 out of 60 (68%), are belongs to the 13-14 years, 4 out of 60 (66%) of puberty girls are belongs to 15 years, 0 out of  60 (0%) puberty girls belongs to 16 years.
    With regard to the religion 5 out of 16 ( 8.33%)  puberty girls are belongs to Muslim Religion, 45 out of 60 (75%) puberty girls belongs to Hindu religion, 10 out of 60 ( 16.6%) puberty girls are belongs to Christian religion, o out of 60 ( 0%) are other religion.
    With regard to the education 60 out of 60 (100%) puberty girls are belongs to 8th standard, 0 out of 60 (0%) puberty girls are belongs to 7th, 8th, 9th standard.
    With regard to the type of family 46 out of 60 (76.6%) of puberty girls are belongs to small family, 12 out of 60 (20%) of puberty girls are belongs to big family, 1 out of 60 (1.6%) of puberty girls are belongs to non of parents, 0 out of 60 ( 0%) of puberty girls are belongs to broken family.
    With regard to the source of information puberty girls are received the information from TV, 2 out of 60 (3%) of puberty girls are got information from News Paper, 25 out of 60(41.66%) of puberty girls are got information from family, 28 out of 60 (46.66%) of puberty girls are got information from friends.
2. Distribution of sample according to the level of knowledge of  puberty girls regarding importance / maintenance of menstrual hygiene before and after structured teaching programme.
    In this pre test knowledge socre, 60 out 60(100%) inadequate knowledge regarding importance / maintenance of menstrual hygiene.
    In the post knowledge score, ..... out of 60 ( ) had inadequate knowledge ......out of 60 ( ) had moderately adequate knowledge and ........out of 60 ( ) had adequate knowledge.
3) The effectiveness of Structured Teaching Programme in improving knowledge of puberty girls regarding importance / maintenance of menstrual hygiene.
    The difference between mean knowledge score pf pre test and post test ( )
was significant at 11.22 level ( paired t - value = 20.30). Structured teaching programme was found to be effective. There was a significant increase in the knowledge regarding importance /maintenance of menstrual hygiene.
Conclusion:
The study brought out the following conclusion:

The structured teaching programme was found to be effective increasing the knowledge of puberty girls regarding importance / maintenance of menstrual hygiene (t = 20.30, P< 11.22)

nursing implication:
The finding of the study have several implications in the following fields:

Community Health:
    Health is  not the concern of the health care systems alone, but of every individual, family and community. Nurse is one of the important members of medical and health care services  in a community. She has a significant role in the prevention of illness and promotion of health. The nurses working in the community level must recognize learning needs of all the members identify teaching goals and develop strategies. The nurse  has to perform health education in preventive, promotive, curative, restorative and rehabilitative aspects of health and illness. Health education on importance / maintenance of  menstrual hygiene improves the knowledge of puberty girsl by which we can bring down the prevalence of reproductive problems in community.
Nursing Practice:
    The findings of the study reveal the fact that the structured teaching programme regarding importance / maintenance of menstrual hygiene has improved  the puberty girl’s knowledge.
(i) The nurse should utilize the opportunity to educate the puberty girls regarding the importance / maintenance of menstrual hygiene.
(ii) Continuing education programme can be planned for nurses to update the knowledge regarding importance / maintenance of menstrual hygiene.
(iii) It is the responsibility of the nursing personnel to conduct health education programmes as it is an integral component of nursing practice.

Therefore, the nursing personnel should educate the puberty girls regarding importance / maintenance of menstrual hygiene by using adequate visually av aids.

Nursing Education:
    The study revealed that there was significant improvement in the knowledge of puberty girls regarding importance / maintenance of menstrual hygiene. To achieve this outcome, the student nurse, the nurse educator needs to have mastery of knowledge over importance / maintenance of menstural hygiene. So, the nursing curriculum should emphasize the management of importance / maintenance of menstrual hygiene to reduce mobidity rate.

Nursing Research:
(i)     This study findings will identify the present level of knowledge of puberty         girls regarding importance / maintenance of menstrual hygiene.
(ii)     The study will help to develop a positive attitude towards nursing  research.

Nursing Administration:
(i)     The nursing staff should be encouraged in the cost of effective production of         audio - vusual aids used for teaching.
(ii)     In service education should be given to the nursing personnel to update the         knowledge regarding importance / maintenance of menstrual hygiene and plan         appropriate interventions.
(iii)     The administration should emphasize the nurse to conduct structured health         education programme.

limitations
1)     This study was conducted among the participants from a selected Govt. Schools         only. So, generalization has been done with caution.
2)     This study was done on a small sample size of puberty girls  hence
    generalization is possible is possible only for the selected participants.
3)     Because of the small sample size, findings must be interpreted with caution.

recommendations for further study:
    Based on the findings of the study, the investigations proposed the following recommendations:
1)     The same study can be conducted to find out the incidence and prevalence of importance / maintenance of menstrual hygiene.
2) A similar study can be conducted by using control and experimental group to assess the effectiveness of importance / maintenance of menstrual hygiene.
3) The same study can be conducted using a large sample size to assess the knowledge regarding importance / maintenance of menstrual hygiene.
4) A study can be done to assess the knowledge of puberty girls regarding importance / maintenance of menstrual hygiene before and after planned teaching programme.
